Australian Cooper 'S' Rebirth

Chris is currently restoring one of his Cooper 'S' road cars, a project neglected for over 10 years. The engine has been completely stripped and is in the process of being rebuilt. All aluminium housings have been chemically cleaned and bead blasted. All rotating components have also been chemically cleaned and some, such as the diff-assembly, have been bead blasted and wire buffed for better oil draining. Note the bright threads in the block flange face, an example of the painstaking clear-tapping of all threads in gearbox housings and block. The stud threads in the block face have been counter-bored to inhibit 'cratering' at the surface, which can lead to poor gasket sealing. Countersinking all threads, likewise provides a better gasket seal and easier fastener insertion. Chris has given parts of the engine their final paint coating.
